James Melvin Washington Research Grant in Black Baptist History

James Melvin Washington Research Grant
The Baptist Studies Center for Research seeks to make an impact on the future shape of the global community of Baptists by preserving and enhancing the Baptist story as part of Baylor University's mission and work. To further this goal, the Center will offer the James Melvin Washington Research Grant in Black Baptist History to support research on the Baptist experiences of African Americans. This award honors the work and memory of one of the most important scholars of Black Baptist history by providing a grant to scholars (emerging or established, academic or pastoral) of up to $2,000 for research and travel expenses associated with research that utilizes the collections of Baptist libraries, archives, and historical societies across the United States.
Your contributions for the Washington Grant will support the storytellers who narrate the global witness of Baptists.
